Process

What happens, and when

The work is split into stages, and each one has a named result. You see it yourself rather than reading about it in a report.

  1. Days 1–2

    Listener and evidence

We work out who you are speaking to: an investor, a corporate client and a partner listen to the same product differently, and the material put together for them differs. At the same time we look at what you have: numbers, emails from first conversations, a working demo. The packaging is built out of that rather than around an empty space.

You get — The chosen listener and the proof to hand

  2. Days 3–5

    The story structure

Structure first, slides after: what gets said first, what backs each claim, where the story about the problem ends and the story about the product begins. This is also where it becomes visible which proof is missing — cheaper to find out now than in the meeting.

You get — The story order and the missing proof

  3. Days 6–10

    Copy and slides

The copy gets written and the slides get built: a headline read in two seconds, and a line beneath it read only if the headline worked. Every claim is checked against a source — anything that cannot be backed is put more weakly rather than left as it was.

You get — Slides and copy with every claim sourced

  4. Days 11–12

    Editable handover

The files are handed over in editable form: the deck, the copy and the diagram sources. You make the change before the next meeting yourself, without coming back to us and waiting your turn. Packaging you cannot alter in an evening is the first thing to go out of date.

You get — The deck, copy and diagrams in editable files

  5. After the first meetings

    Revision by questions

The most accurate material for a revision is the questions you were asked. After three or four conversations it is usually clear at which slide the listener stops listening, and the deck is rebuilt around that spot.

You get — A deck rebuilt around the weak slide

What the work covers

  • Choosing the listener

an investor, a corporate client and a partner hear the same product differently, and the order of the story differs for each

  • The proof you have

numbers, emails from first conversations, a working demo, a market estimate with its source named, and a list of what is missing

  • The structure of the story

what gets said first, what backs each claim, where the problem ends and the product begins

  • Copy and wording

a headline read in two seconds, the line beneath it, and the same wording ready to go onto the site and into emails

  • Building the deck

grid, typography and diagrams for the numbers; a logo and a visual identity are not part of packaging

  • Editable source files

the deck, the copy and the diagrams in a format that opens and changes on your side, without waiting on us

What we need from you

  • The date or the occasion the material is needed for, and who you are showing it to — investor, client or partner
  • Your numbers, the emails from your first conversations, and the objections you have already heard from customers
  • Two hour-long calls and a walkthrough of the draft with somebody who can approve the wording
